The Article will examine fashion in all its forms - the history of, trends that have come and gone (and come again), and one-of-a-kind swoon worthy pieces that have changed the way we define fashion. The Article will unveil snaps of inventory at Graffiti & Silk…just barely unboxed and unbagged, tagged and hung for your consideration.

Unfurled in this blog - and scattered throughout the website - will be basic and utilitarian must-have pieces...others handcut, handsewn, and craftily pieced together. Still others serve as curiosities with a story to match.

Sustainability drives Graffiti & Silk, so expect a discussion of new techniques for infusing ripped t-shirts or vintage scarves or 1990’s streetwear into our wardrobe instead of the landfill. Tag us, share with us, show us your own approaches. Always.  

So, why are we here….the lot of us…part of this ever growing thrift store movement?

For starters, our Graffiti & Silk staff…well, we just love style. Graffiti & Silk is an ever evolving space with its own personality and we each play a part in growing this unique organism.  We are here in support of Mobile Hope, the nonprofit recipient of all proceeds. 

And we love our customers. People walk through our doors for varying reasons. Some are curious, others are committed to the sustainability of thrift. Most appreciate style without busting their wallet. Each person who visits Graffiti & Silk - on some level -  has had a different starting line, a different storyline, and a different reason for trying us out. Every person has asked  "With what?" or "Does it work?" or "Can I pull it off?

The Article will include varied styles and trends - compiled from the endless bounty - the racks and racks (and racks) of clothing generously donated by supporters. We hope to inspire - fashion as an art form allows for an immeasurable mixture of elements; bold and subdued, classic and brazen, so The Article will always have something to say. Let’s have fun!.
